How to Change a Lid Seal on an Aga - Step-by-Step Guide
Firstly, cover your Aga with a dust sheet to protect the enamel top plate as falling debris could damage or scratch the enamel.
Lift the lid and carefully use a flathead screwdriver to pry the old rope from the lid.
Clean the surface of any residual adhesive and then carefully apply the new adhesive around the rim. Avoid getting the adhesive on the lid liner as this can damage the surface.
Before fixing the rope in place, stretch it out a little so that it is the same size as the dome rim. Then, locate the rope join and place this at the base of the lid. Gently ease the rope around the rim, pressing it firmly in place as you go.
Close the lid - the pressure will help fix the seal in place securely while the adhesive dries.
Once replaced your lid seals should see many more years of service and will do an excellent job at keeping your hot plates warm and at the right temperature for your hob top cooking.
