This was a very special and unique project, and not just because of the rather fabulous clients!
Welsh comedic legend Rhod Gilbert and his actor and writer wife Sian Harries gave us an absolutely wonderful brief: ‘An Aga that looks like it’s been here for 100 years.’
They were long term solid fuel users, seeking an Electrickit model for their seating area - a place to gather, socialise and enjoy or simply to sit with a good book. Many of our clients tend to want their refurbished Aga to look sparkling new, adding a certain pizzazz or elegance to their kitchen. Rhod and Sian, however, were looking for something quite different. An Aga that looked old and traditional, woven into the fabric of their home’s history.
Jumping at the challenge, we sought out and presented a range of original Standard Model Agas in traditional Aga cream. They then selected an Aga with the level of wear they were looking for and we partially reconditioned it to their specifications. The end result combined the original front and lids with a re enamelled top plate and replacement parts throughout, giving the look of a well loved but refreshed Aga.
