Cooking with Charlie
Charlie is an all in one charcoal oven, BBQ, grill, pizza oven and smoker. There are countless ways to cook delicious food, from breads to seafood to prize steaks. Just by adding charcoal, opening and closing vents and choosing the shelf level to cook on, you can create a vast array of restaurant-quality food outside in your garden.
Looking for ideas? Here are just some of the ways to cook on Charlie:
Pizza Oven
Several pizzas can be cooked at once in a Charlie oven. Make sure your bottom pizza isn’t too close to the charcoal and set your temperature gauge to 375c. At that temperature, perfectly baked pizza takes just 3 minutes!
BBQ Grill
Charlie grills better than any BBQ. No more smoke in your face or burnt edges. The stainless steel racks mean you can cook directly over flame, retaining heat to achieve the perfect sear. Alternatively, use a plancha to fry over the heat.
Hot or Cold Smoke
Adding a small handful of wood to your charcoal can add a delicious smoky flavour to your cooking, with the excellent insulation retaining the smoke. In the summer, a bath of ice turns Charlie into a cool box for cold smokes too.
Roast
The 9 different cooking levels mean you can cook an entire roast at once in the same oven. Meats stay moist and evenly cooked, vegetables grilled, and potatoes moved around to get that lovely fluffy inside and crispy exterior.
Low ‘n’ Slow
Charlie ovens can maintain low temperatures for up to 16 hours, making it perfect for slow cooked meats. Cook delicious falls from the bone with very little effort. Just close the door and let Charlie get to work.
Baking
As Charlie ovens reach higher temperatures than domestic ovens, you can achieve bakery worthy bread and results just not achievable in normal home baking. Bake cakes, croissants, meringues, and all manner of puddings in a Charlie.
