What can be converted?

We can convert virtually every 2 and 4 oven Aga ever made, whether running on gas, oil, 13Amp or 30Amp electric. For 2 / 4 oven kit information, read more here.

In addition, we can now convert 3 oven 13Amp, 13Amp Aims, Gas Traditional Flue and Gas Powered Flue models.

We cannot convert Total Control (ER7), Dual Control (R7), ER3 or R3 models.

Why Convert?

  1. Up to 80% reduction in running costs

  2. Flexible operation

  3. Easy to use controls

  4. 3rd oven becomes independently operable giving huge flexibility

  5. Ability to select temperatures - opt for 2 roasting or 2 baking ovens on big cook days!

  6. Remote operation possible with timer switch and App (please ask for more information)

  7. Controlled comfort levels. Heat the room in winter, stay cool in summer

  8. No flue requirements

  9. Fume free

  10. Eliminate servicing costs

  11. Reduced heat up and recovery times

From it’s release in 2004, until recently, the 3 oven 13Amp Aga was sold in large numbers. The headlines were eye catching ones - everything you loved about your Aga but without the need for servicing, flues or an oil tank or gas supply. As many soon discovered however, it is a hugely expensive way to run your Aga. In a 13Amp Aga, a single electric coil element is used to heat a half a tonne of cast iron cooker. We all know that by their nature, electric elements are generally expensive to run - think of a towel rail or kettle, we all avoid their over-use where possible. We avoid overworking these elements to keep costs down.

The 13Amp closely replicated traditional models in it’s set up and feel. The element heats air, which is funnelled through the barrel, across the top of the roasting oven, into the manifold and down through a flexible pipe which runs to the bottom of the ashpit below the element. The air is then heated again and recirculated. The element kicks in and out to maintain a constant temperature, all the while heating vast amount of cast iron and inefficient loose fill insulation. Whilst these cookers kick out a wonderful amount of cosy room heat, giving that real “heart of the home” feel; at the 24.5p kwh April 2024 electricity cap, a 3 oven 13Amp, will be costing a whopping £58.80 a week!!

We can also convert 3 oven gas models - both traditional and powered flue. Whether you are moving properties and no longer have access to natural gas, are moving away from fossil fuels or want to increase year round flexibility, Electrickit may offer the solution you are looking for.

What difference does Electrickit make?

Electrickit is a complete re imagining of the internals of your Aga. By stripping the Aga to it’s base, removing the loose fill insulation and excess cast and replacing the hotspots with a much more efficient solution, the efficency and flexibility of your Aga are transformed. Over the course of a day the Aga is completely rebuilt, with the loose fill insulation removed and replaced with purpose built blankets with superior insulative properties. Individual elements serve each hotplate, enabling you to individually control each hotplate. Usually the hotplate is turned on for use and is up to full temperature in 30 minutes; the temperature can then be adjusted using the control knobs. The oven elements are fitted between the top and bottom ovens and beneath the third oven.

Compare the above: On the left ragged rockwool and loose fill; on the right a neat ceramic blanket solution, holding the heat within the ovens, exactly where it is needed. Note the removal of components. All of these “excess” cast parts are rendered unnecessary; by removing them, we reduce the work for the elements.
